While hitting rim is hardly our number one priority, it is our most common, most identifiable, and most overlooked flaw. It becomes more frequent as we grow more ambitious and we are all guilty of justifying those rims with the difficulty of what we’re playing. But as all great performers know, you don’t get credit for the hard stuff if you don’t take care of the easy stuff. And hitting rim isn’t the only easy mistake we tend to overlook.
“Stop the rim” simply translates to “stop neglecting the easy stuff”. Don’t neglect your rebound strokes just because you’re moving fast, don’t neglect your tap quality just because there’s a crossover, don’t neglect your zones just because the motion is uncomfortable, and don’t neglect those rims just because your double strokes travel laterally.
When the beats get hard, attention to detail and maintaining the integrity of your fundamentals will always produce the best results. Practice attentively, practice correctly, and you will experience progress beyond what you believe you’re capable of. This entire page is dedicated to helping you experience that, so take advantage of all we have to offer! All we ask in return is that you strive to be the best you can be, because why be anything else? So what are you waiting for??? Pick up those sticks and start cleaning up all those rims!!!
